Richard shines as Padres down Dodgers

San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Jerry Hairston Jr. drove in three runs and Clayton Richard was solid in six innings on the mound, as the San Diego Padres took down the Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-1, in the middle installment of a three- game set from Petco Park.

Richard (8-5) gave up one run on four hits for the Padres, who bounced back from a 2-0 loss in the opener of this series. He also struck out six and walked one.

Chris Denorfia, Nick Hundley, and Adrian Gonzalez each had an RBI for NL West- leading San Diego, which has won four of five.

"We really don't put that much pressure on ourselves," Jerry Hairston said. "We just got out and have fun. Maybe this team doesn't know any better, but that's a good thing."

Jamey Carroll knocked in the lone run for the Dodgers, who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Hiroki Kuroda (8-9) went six-plus frames in the start, giving up three runs on four hits to take the loss. He also fanned five batters and walked two.

"He had good stuff today. We just couldn't get a win for him," Dodgers catcher Russell Martin said of Kuroda.

The Dodgers got on the board in the third. Blake DeWitt singled and Rafael Furcal walked to put men on first and second with two outs. Carroll then hit an RBI single to center for a 1-0 lead.

Kuroda retired 10 straight batters before giving up a leadoff single to pinch- hitter Tony Gwynn Jr. in the sixth. Denorfia walked with one out. Gonzalez tied the game with an RBI base hit to center. After Chase Headley walked to load the bases, Hundley hit a sacrifice fly.

San Diego added two more runs in the seventh to take a 4-1 lead. Scott Hairston led off with a single, chasing Kuroda from the contest. George Sherrill took over on the hill. Everth Cabrera recorded two outs before being replaced by Jeff Weaver. Jerry Hairston greeted him with a run-scoring double. Denorfia followed with an RBI base hit. Jack Taschner then walked two batters before getting Hundley to fly out.

Jerry Hairston added a two-run single in the eighth to account for the final margin.
